Escrow (or, in other words, contracts), confusing for beginners - it is a black market in the game. To view what is offered on this market, dock at a station, click "Missions", and select the "Escrow" tab. There is sold everything, what can be bought and sold in the game. Only here you can buy many of the rarest things (e.g. bookmarks, or some ships). There are no NPCs - all lots belong to real players. Escrow is also interesting because it is the same to all stations - any items can be bought at any station. It is also possible to sell your own items to anywhere, from anywhere through the escrow.
To sell an object through the Escrow, you have to firstly select a station, at which the object is, then to select the object itself. After choosing the object (you can put on sale as many items as you want), you need to fix the price, and the duration of the contract (7 days at most), description (optional), and limitations. Restrictions give the possibilty to put an item on sale only for one particular player, or a corporation or alliance, and in this case no one else would not be able to buy your item.
Buying is easier — you just select the item, click "Claim Escrow", optionally read the description and confirm the purchase - and that's all, the items is yours.
Escrow is also known by the fact that many people out there try to deceive customers, and especially beginners, by selling some «junk» at high prices, because in the description the object there can be written anything. To trade through contracts is a bit «dangerous» for newbies, but for quite safe trade through Escrow there is a very important button "Inspect", which allows you to examine in details of the sold items, and prevent fraud. Anyone who does not want to be cheated by unscrupulous sellers, always uses this button when shopping.
