This update is due to summer 2010. The exact date when the expansion will be introduced is not known, yet, but it is known what this expansion will include.
Many players have been asking the developers to provide more possibilities in the game so that a players could build up their own in-game infrastructure. Tyrannis will make this possible like never before. Dominion had introduced planets with nice textures – with green jungle, burning lava fields and sand deserts. Tyrannys will allow to harvest resources on planets! On any planets, not on just terrestrial ones.
Players will be able to create their own infrastructure and facilities for gathering resources on planets, build plants to process, warehouses to store and send them into cosmos; and generally to organize and expand production.
Ice worlds and gas giants, ocean planets and hot satellites – all these unique planet types with their specific characteristics will be available for resource harvesting and production.
You can already try all these new features and worlds on the test server Singularity. However many thing may change on the test server until the official release of the Tyrannis expansion.
The global plan of CCP is to connect  the games DUST514 and EVE Online. When this is done the possibilities of EVE will be limitless. There will be battles on planets, ground units, the possibility to travel in human corpse through the universe and much more. All these are future of the game and Tyrannis is the first step to it.
Tyrannis also includes EVE Gate (which is a Web Frontend to allow players to interact with EVE through a regular web browser – to access EVE Mail, Contacts and Calendar) and various interface and game-play improvements.
