Playing on test servers is indispensable when it is necessary to test a module or ship, available for your skills. The servers Singularity and Multiplicity (the latter has been added relatively recently, after the update Revelations 2, and is designed primarily for testing hot fixes) offer any equipment at the lowest price. To configure the EVE Online client for the test server, you must first copy the game folder to another location because the installation of the test version makes it impossible to access the main server. Next you need to create separate shortcuts for both servers to the file eve.exe in the new test folder; and type in the field "Object" the following text "/ server: 87.237.38.50" for Singularity and "/ server: 87.237.38.51" for Multiplicity. The settings should look like this - C: \ Eve_Test \ eve.exe "/ server: 87.237.38.50.
After thфе you should update the test client to the latest version, this can be done by simply launching the client through the shortcut, or by manually installing patches for Singularity and Multiplicity from the official site. Be careful and do not install patches over the main client, since changes cannot be undone and you'll have to reinstall your main client.
Your character on the test servers will lag behind in development for some time, maybe even for a month — this is due to the fact that the players base is not copied often to the test servers, usually before testing important updates. So, if you had no character before the players base was updated on the test servers, you cannot access and play on them.
And finally, a general recomendation concerning installation of the game client — do not install it into directories named with non-english characters or make to it available to sertain Windows user account, the name of which contains non-english characters. It is better to install the client to the directory it suggets by default.
