This extension is probably the most ambitious extension to the game since EVE Online has been created.  Eve Online Apocrypha was released on March 10th 2009. And that was the very first time when the game appeared as a boxed product in partnership with Atari.
What did the extension bring to players?
The matter of the Universe breaks and there is suddenly found a tunnel in time and space, connecting unknown parts of the Universe with the stars of New Eden. Absolutely new technologies wait for those, who are brave enough to start exploring this anomaly. New technologies allow to produce very functionally flexible ships with a vast variety of settings so the ship can be configured to carry out neatly any mission — from industrial support to combat actions.
To the delight of the players, NPC-agents in eve online apocrypha will give new and complicated plot missions (called   Epic Mission Arcs — missions with changing plot lines).
Non streight-forward plot and numerous events make missions more intelligent and offer more dangerous enemies.
In addition, the developers have entirely reworked New Player Experience for those who only begin to play (or come back after a period of time to) the game – giving them better insight into how to succeed in a limitless universe.
And finally, there have been launched EVElopedia—a great collection of information regarding  all the aspects of EVE Online, where the players can also participate and build their own living history of the previous years of Alliance warfare, political intrigue and nostalgic memories.
